Scenes from Snowdown 2013–parade, balloon rally and rocket launch

I’m always amazed at how many parents let their kids ride on a float with Ronald McDonald every year at the Snowdown parade. He’s a poor role model for the nutritional needs of today’s youth.

Daniel Jaques, an Airspace Systems Educator working for NASA and Ignacio School District 11-JT, gives a talk to a group of kids and their parents about how to use the air powered, paper rocket launcher. The system is pressurized, which the kids and their parents used to shoot rockets as close to a target as possible. The event was a fundraiser for sending kids to space camp.

The rocket launch event was also a fundraiser to help send kids to Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama.
