This blogger and sidekick girlfriend are inviting people to join us for a trash clean up work party in Horse Gulch on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve stumbled across a lot of trash left behind by vagrants in Horse Gulch, mainly off of Raiders Ridge. Those lingering pockets of trash were an inspiration for action.

On April 7 (this coming Sunday), we’ll meet up at Horse Gulch trail head to brief other volunteers with maps, photographs, water and some gloves to help people participate in hauling some of the trash that’s on both City-owned open space as well as Oakridge Energy property.

Trash bags and a dumpster will be provided by the City of Durango.

On the interface with City-owned open space are pieces of land owned by Oakridge Energy, a publicly held company out of Wichita Falls, Texas. Oakridge Energy’s President, Arbie Marie Price, also known as Chi Chi Ray Miller, a member of the Pautsky family, has given us permission to help clean up the trash left behind at homeless camps or anywhere else on their property in or next to Horse Gulch.

Some of their property crosses over Horse Gulch, while much of it lies up on Ewing Mesa directly above and to the south of Horse Gulch.

Drinking water and some disposable gloves will be available, but the use of leather gloves is encouraged if you can bring your own.
