Next time you’re in Horse Gulch coming off of Raider Ridge, ride Cap’s Trail instead of the road

Cap’s Trail in Horse Gulch just got rebuilt and is ready to ride.

IMG_0974[1]Ride down it on a short lunch time ride from Horse Gulch Road. It’s probably about a mile long.

For a longer ride coming off of Raider Ridge from Medicine Trail or Sugar Trail, connect to Cap’s, which parallels below Horse Gulch Road.

From Horse Gulch Road, it’s about half a mile up from the bottom of Medicine Trail, where there’s a rock cairn marking the trail that goes down towards the gully. Before getting to the ditch, where the old Cap’s trail traversed, you veer right and head down the mile long trail that parallels Horse Gulch Road.

You’ll cross a bridge about a third of the way down.

At two thirds of the way down there’s a sweet little beginner-level table-top dirt jump that Derek, Emma and I built.

After that, Cap’s quickly pops out at the signed intersection below Meadow Loop after going through some grassy sage brush meadows with large oak brush mosaics.

This is the turn off of Horse Gulch Road, aka C.R. 237, headed down to Cap's Trail.

We picked up lots of trash along the trail.
