Freeride mountain bike culture in Durango is under attack and needs defenders–especially on the City of Durango’s open space lands. Right now, if anyone wants to build an approved freeride mountain bike feature on city lands–be it a jump, a drop, a berm or a log ride–you have to get permission from city officials. Tuesday was a productive day of trail work on Snakecharmer, aka The Scratch, for Trails 2000’s on Durango’s only sanctioned progressive freeride trail on city-owned open space lands in Horse Gulch.
